Optus has unveiled its latest retail offering with the opening its first experiential Queensland flagship store at Chermside.
Optus’ Vice President of Retail, Frances Martin said “The flagship store is designed to be at the forefront of retail using digital technology to provide an incredible experience for consumers and deliver a smart home experience.”
The specially designed store allows consumers to touch, feel and try the latest technology including Smart Home devices, Smart Switches and the recently launched Google Home and Samsung Dex devices.
“Consumers rely on their smart phones to make their life easier from using GPS navigation to using apps to do banking, shopping, accessing live sport and entertainment and staying in touch with family and friends. The connected home is an extension of this, which over time, will allow a user to connect to their home base to open garage doors, turn on their heating and let you know when you are running low on milk,” Ms Martin said.
The store opening also reinforces Optus’ change in direction from a traditional telco to a multi-media led company.
“Competition within the telco industry has increased significantly in the past few years and we have had to become more agile and offer new plans and products to meet the needs of consumers.
“We are excited to bring Google Home and the Samsung Dex to Queenslanders and we are proud to be doing this from our latest store,” Ms Martin said
Optus will roll out five experiential stores this year with one recently opening in Parramatta NSW and three more to be delivered later this year.
The 300sqm Chermside store is the first store to open as part of the Westfield redevelopment and has created five local jobs.
