Optus today announced a $5.5 million commitment to improve 4G Plus mobile coverage in Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley.
Optus’ State Manager for Victoria, Peter Kirk said Optus will build several new sites to improve network coverage and customer experience across the region for residents, businesses and visitors.
“Optus is committed to improving mobile coverage and providing faster internet download speeds for people living, working, and visiting Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley,” Mr Kirk said.
Optus recently built and activated three new sites in central Murchison and north and east Shepparton which are already providing improved coverage and faster download speeds for customers.
“These new sites will improve coverage at Shepparton Airport and along key transport links including the Goulburn Valley Highway, Midland Highway and Echuca Road which is great news for motorists.”
Optus has earmarked $4 million to build eight new sites in east and north Kialla, Mooroopna North, Dhurringile, Arcadia Downs, Toolamba, Lancaster and Ardmona.
The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. The growing demand for mobile coverage is why Optus is continuously raising the bar when it comes to improving mobile services in regional Australia.
Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley are enjoying the benefits of Optus’ superfast 4G Plus network, which now reaches 96.1% of Australians.
