Optus has today announced a $1.7 million commitment to further improve its 4G Plus mobile network in Bathurst.
Optus State Manager for New South Wales, Dylan Harrad-Chantler said, “Optus is committed to improving mobile coverage for consumers and businesses in and around Bathurst.
“We’ve listened to feedback from locals who all echo the same message that they want better coverage and faster download speeds, especially during peak tourism periods.
“Once work is completed, customers will benefit from fewer call drop outs, better indoor and outdoor coverage and improved streaming to mobile devices. The investment will also greatly improve the experience for visitors at busy events throughout the year, including the V8 Supercar races.
“In the next 12 to 18 months, we will build four new sites in Bathurst CBD, along the Bathurst-Oberon Road, Bathurst South-West and Napoleon Reef.
“We have also recently built and activated two new sites at Kelso North and Bathurst Commercial West, which are already providing improved 4G Plus mobile coverage for residents, businesses and visitors,” said Mr Harrad-Chantler.
Today’s announcement forms part of Optus’ $1 billion commitment to improving regional mobile services where people live, work and travel.
The Optus network handles over 45 million calls and 80 million SMS messages each day and carries 6,000 terabytes of data each week. Optus is continuing to expand and strengthen its network to deliver improved data and voice services across metropolitan, regional and remote locations nationally.
