An Optus spokesperson said:
As of 9.30 am (AEST) today, there has been localised impact to Optus’ mobile network in southern areas of Queensland and northern New South Wales.
As a result of power failures and flooding across these regions, Optus customers in parts of Gladstone, Hervey Bay, the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Tweeds Heads may be experiencing disruptions to their mobile voice, text and data services.
Extreme weather and flooding is hampering access to sites but we are continuing to work closely with the relevant emergency services to get safe access to restricted areas. Where possible, we will deploy portable generators to restore services to affected sites, as quickly as possible.
